Notes
- The plots show averages of multiple printers measured through our custom printer ICC profiling service.
- Viewing the plots requires a VRML viewer plug-in.
- On the pre-built gamut plots, the wireframes represent the limits of the sRGB and Adobe RGB color spaces. These are useful for comparing the range of typical editing color spaces to what a particular camera can record or printer can print.
- Print contrast ratio:
- This is the visual density ratio between the white of the paper surface and the maximum density of black ink or dye.
- The output range is primarily a function of the paper surface. On matte finish papers, the reflection is diffuse and some light reflects back to your eyes at all viewing angles. This makes for a lighter maximum black, and a corresponding reduction in maximum density.
- At the other end of the scale, the maximum white is governed by the brightness of the paper surface.
- Printer/paper combinations with low contrast ratios require attention to the Soft Proofing simulation options to ensure shadow and highlight details are preserved in print.
